About GigBand

GigBand is an independent, advertising-supported site built around one thing: a handful of free calculators for the numbers that come up whenever a band plays a show — how long the setlist runs, how the pay splits, what a delay pedal should be set to, and what the merch table actually made.

How the tools are built

Every calculator here works the same way: take numbers a musician already has — a song count, a tempo, a door price — and run them through a fixed, visible formula. Nothing is looked up from a music database or guessed at; the arithmetic is the whole tool.

• Setlist Duration Calculator: song count times average song length, plus the gap between songs multiplied by (song count − 1), converted from minutes into a running time you can read as mm:ss.
• Gig Pay Split Calculator: starts from the gig fee, subtracts shared costs you enter for the night — fuel, gear hire, a sound engineer — and divides what’s left evenly across the number of people you enter.
• BPM Delay Calculator: converts a tempo in BPM into delay times in milliseconds using the tempo-sync math built into delay pedals and DAWs — 60,000 ÷ BPM for a quarter note, then halved, three-quarters, and quartered for the eighth, dotted-eighth, and sixteenth values.
• Ticket Revenue Calculator: tickets sold times ticket price for gross door revenue, then the venue’s percentage cut subtracted out to show the venue’s share and what the band actually nets.
• Merch Profit Calculator: units sold times sell price for revenue, units sold times unit cost for cost of goods, and the difference as profit, with profit ÷ revenue shown as a percentage margin.
• Rehearsal Planner: song count times minutes per song times number of run-throughs, plus total break time, converted into hours and minutes so you know how long to book the room.

The Live Music Museumworks differently. Its entries, images, and facts on stage instruments, venues, sound and stagecraft, and festival history are drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, not generated or estimated — it’s a reference section, kept separate from the calculators above it.

What this is (and isn’t)

GigBand isn’t a venue, a booking agency, a ticketing platform, or a gear brand, and it isn’t affiliated with any of them, or with Wikipedia or Wikimedia. It’s a small, ad-supported site with no sign-up and no data collection beyond what your browser already sends.

Every result is only as good as the numbers you type in and the formula behind the tool — treat them as planning estimates, not a contract or a guarantee of what a venue, promoter, or tax authority will actually charge or pay. GigBand’s content is general information, not professional legal, financial, or contractual advice; for a specific booking fee, contract clause, royalty question, or venue rule, check with the venue, promoter, or a qualified advisor.
