This is Acosta’s latest EP teaser entitled “Chants of Diplomacy” The title is shall we say interesting so it’s no surprise these string of 6 songs area very captivating album providing a exciting mixture of alt rock, pop, alt folk and even jam band along the way. Jacob Acosta’s music chronicles a journey with many paths. He has explored the depth of the human condition through song since his first project Race You There in 2008, and has followed that up with more inspiring and soulful music from Roll Acosta in 2009. With his groups he has put out the works ‘Acts of Treason’ (2009), ‘The Dawn EP’ (2010), ‘Catalyst EP’, (2011), ‘The Dark EP’ (2011) and most recently ‘This Dreamt Existence’ (2012) with his first producer, John Vanderslice. He has worked as an artist, performing with many other bands in his hometown of Tucson, including a guest musician spot on the ‘Truth be Told’ (2011) album by the Tryst . Now he embarks on his first journey back to his singer/songwriter beginnings with the upcoming project ‘Chants of Diplomacy’(2013). This astonishing performer, delivers a stunning show and a truly passionate musical approach to the human experience. Chants of Diplomacy is one release that certainly doesn’t disappoint. This is one guy that brings to the table effective songwriting via a highly marketable musical delivery and at times unpredictable. This meshed with a one in a million Alt-Rock sound and effective visuals and vocals makes for a very effective combination no doubt. Acosta is just a breath away from College-Indie-Pop or even Punk but skillfully and methodically never crosses the line into either realm really. All songs are wonderfully simple but masterful in their overall arrangements. Music reminded me of a cross between Saosin, Story of the Year, Taking Back Sunday, Yellowcard, Panic At The Disco, This 6 Track line-up is quite entertaining overall with an amazing vocal front of Acosta who is a musical triple threat in my mind. He’s a rock solid songwriter, singer and musician. Acosta has an amazing voice and the lyrical content is a bit mysterious, (good and cryptic) yet straight from the heart. Chants of Diplomacy offers a very strong artistic perspective and spirit. All songs do exactly what they are meant to do via well-crafted movements and top tiered musicianship. The overall production value is superb with a crystal clear sound quality.

Conclusion: Jacob Acosta has proven himself with this latest release. He’s definitely an up and coming talent around Tucson, Arizona and is just a blast to listen to. He’s clearly capable musician, producer, songwriter and singer. I must admit “chants of Diplomacy” sucked me in like a powerful drug and refused to let go long after the CD was over. This usually indicates he is something special about the artist or band in question.
